The University is committed to welcoming international students each year who represent cultural and ethnic diversity from a wide variety of countries. Application Details

Students from Canada and Mexico

The University of Rochester offers need-based financial aid to undergraduate students who are Mexican or Canadian citizens. Canadian and Mexican citizens do not need to complete the FAFSA.

If you were born in the US and are now a Canadian or Mexican citizen, please follow the deadlines for a US Citizen.

Eligible non-citizens

An eligible non-citizen must be a permanent resident of the United States who is legally permitted to live and work in the United States. You may be required to show proof of your status to the Financial Aid Office by providing a copy of your Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551). If you have questions about whether you are considered an eligible non-citizen for financial aid purposes, please contact us.

College Board’s IDOC

We participate in the College Board’s IDOC service. Canadian and Mexican citizens who are required to submit their 2016 tax information along with any wage statements as part of their aid application will get an email from the College Board with instructions and deadline information.

If you are unable to submit your 2016 tax information to IDOC by the priority deadline (March 1, 12:00 am ET), submit your CSS Profile by the deadline, using estimates. Submit your 2016 tax information and wage statements to IDOC as soon as you are able. Be sure to include a notarized English translation of the documents that you are submitting if required.
