Dual Degree Nursing Interview Program

The Dual Degree Nursing (DDN) Interviewing Program will be held Monday, February 3–Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

This is an invite-only program.

Attendance at the interview event on Tuesday, February 4, is a mandatory part of the selection process. You will interview with admissions staff from the College and the School of Nursing, attend lectures, and meet with current DDN students.

Attendance on Monday, February 3, is optional and provides the opportunity to further explore campus and stay overnight with a current student.

Travel Info

Please arrive no later than 9:30 am on Tuesday, February 4 to allow time for parking and check-in. If you get delayed, please call Admissions at (585) 275-3221.

Driving
If you are driving on February 4, enter 255 Crittenden Boulevard, Rochester NY 14620 as your GPS destination. This will bring you to the Saunders Research Building (SRB) parking lot next to the School of Nursing, Helen Wood Hall, at University of Rochester. Stop at the SRB booth for parking directions.

Please note that a number of large construction projects are taking place in the area surrounding campus. Please allow extra time for your trip and if possible, avoid using Exit 16 off I-390.

Flying
The University’s River Campus is about two miles from the Greater Rochester International Airport (airport code ROC). Commercial taxi service and car rental are available from the airport. Cab fare is approximately $10, depending on the number of people and luggage.

Bus
The Rochester city buses stop at several locations on the River Campus as well as the Medical Center and Eastman campuses on all routes. For schedule and bus route information, visit the Rochester Transportation Services page.

Train
The Rochester Amtrak station is located at 320 Central Avenue. Taxi service and car rental are available, and the station is located on the municipal bus line that serves the River Campus.

Overnight Students

Registering
You have the option to arrive on Monday, February 3, and stay overnight with a current student. If you choose to stay overnight, please select this option when you register. A hosting coordinator will contact you that week to take your information and answer your questions.

Day of
Arrive at Wallis Hall (the Office of Admissions) at 4:00 pm to meet your host.

If you are driving to campus with family, proceed to the Information Booth on Wilson Boulevard for a parking permit and directions to a lot. If you are driving by yourself, you may keep your car on campus overnight. We must know your license plate number prior to arrival. You may need to move your car after check-in. If you have questions about parking, please call us at (585) 275-3221.

What to Expect

As our guest, your meals and on-campus lodging are included at no charge during your visit. If you arrive on Monday, please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and towel. We recommend that you bring additional spending money for snacks, souvenirs, etc.

Also, please bring appropriate dress clothes for your interview on Tuesday, as well as outdoor attire to keep you warm during a Rochester winter. We recommend checking the Rochester weather forecast prior to your departure, as average winter temperatures can vary.

*Students should be in the School of Nursing, Evert’s Lounge area 15 minutes prior to their assigned interview time, as noted on their itinerary. Finalists are free to depart campus after their interview.
