Hello families, my name is Stanley Martin and I’m currently a mental health counseling graduate student at University of Rochester’s Warner School of Education. I am the Graduate Head Counselor for Pre-College Programs 2015 and I’m elated about the opportunity! In just a few weeks, we will embark on a journey filled with new, exciting experiences that will foster an authentic taste of life as a University of Rochester student.
In addition to myself, there will be 16 current undergraduate Pre-College Counselors (PCCs) that exemplify the diverse interests, collective knowledge, and experiences Rochester has to offer. Through the programs the PCCs create, students will be exposed to a wide array of fun, novel activities that embody the interests and experiences of the Counselors.
The objective of Pre-College Programs is to create a supportive, simulated college environment for students to discover their potential in a variety of ways. Through the classes offered, students will not only increase their academic self-efficacy, they will also examine their scholastic goals with the aid of the knowledgeable, well-informed PCCs. Students have the chance to step out of their comfort zones on their own terms, which will allow them to refine their social skills and garner long-lasting friendships with peers of diverse backgrounds yet similar personal and educational interests.
This summer is all about you and your voyage toward self-discovery. You will begin the powerful journey of connecting who you are with who you want to be. Let go of your inhibitions, hold on to the excitement, and get ready for an incredible summer ride! In the meantime, you can read about the PCCs for a preview of the amazingness to ensue in Pre-College Programs 2015. We’re genuinely looking forward to meeting all of you and embarking on this journey together.
