Tai Chi Tuesday

T'ai Chi: Explorations in Qi (DAN 211)  Tuesday is my busiest day of the week. On Tuesday mornings, I pretty much stuff all my books into a sports bag and rush out the door with damp hair. My first class starts at 9:40 a.m., and I have class back-to-back until late afternoon. Sometimes when I'm lucky,[…]

Winter Reads

I'm staying in Washington, DC and New York City over winter break and the weather hasn't been particularly great so far in the east coast. Holiday shopping isn't much fun when the streets are filled with icy mud and slush. I just decided to stay in with my heater and blanket and catch up on some reading.[…]

What to Do with Thanksgiving Leftovers?

Happy Thanksgiving!  I stayed in Rochester for Thanksgiving break but didn't miss out on the feast. My roommate and I snatched the last roasted turkey at Wegmans and indulged in a full Thanksgiving meal until we nearly fainted. The leftover ingredients started falling off the top of the refrigerator so I had a cooking marathon on Black Friday instead of shopping.[…]

Take Five, High Five.

What is the TAKE FIVE SCHOLARS PROGRAM? The T5 program complements the University’s vision of a creative and flexible liberal arts education. Students have a tuition-free year to fulfill their intellectual curiosity, often taking courses irrelevant to their major(s). University of Rochester advocates a ‘build your own curriculum’ philosophy which reflects a high level of[…]

Gangnam Style Flashmob at U of R !

We all scurried to Eastman quad after class to boast our horse-riding dance skills. If you haven't seen the viral Gangnam Style video,[…]

First Week Back, The Summary

Back in Rochester! After enduring one of the hottest summers in Korea, I'm looking forward to the chills in Rochester this semester. I usually come to school a week before classes start in order to help out with Freshmen Orientation. Also, the fall breeze that starts around this time is amazing. It makes me even more[…]

Embassy Youth Forum

With Actor Daniel Dae Kim. (I'm on his right side with the blue tote bag.) The US Embassy American Center in Seoul hosts a youth forum called 'Real People Talking' every month. The center invites speakers to discuss US-Korea relations with college and graduate students. Due to the 2012 Yeosu World Exposition in Korea this[…]

Dear Freshmen

Most high school students think their identity crisis is going to end once they're in college, but the confusion actually lingers. You have to choose your major, decide where you're going to live, select your roommates. . . . Endless dilemmas! JUST EMBRACE. College is going to throw even more questions and options at you. Think[…]

How to Make Your Own Storyboard

Late night. My desk is a mess right now. I've been working on a storyboard for about a week. Most service fellowships these days ask for a short video in the application. It's a great opportunity to demonstrate your creativity! Prepping for a film takes as much time as making a film. You have to[…]

Summer Volunteer: English Zone

I'm back in Korea for summer vacation. It's my last summer break before graduating from the University of Rochester, so I decided to take it easy and focus on enjoying things I won't be as likely to do once I "enter the real world." I'm studying Chinese and French, as well as learning how to[…]
