Estimator Disclaimer

Our web-based financial aid estimator is applicable to prospective first-year students of the University of Rochester. The estimator is designed to help gauge a family's financial strength in order to estimate any need-based financial aid that may be offered. This is only an estimate. This form is not an actual application, nor does it represent an offer of financial aid. You must complete the financial aid application process in a timely manner to receive an estimated, qualifying need-based financial aid package.

The Financial Aid Estimator mimics the Institutional Methodology (IM). A thorough review of the information provided via the application requirements will be completed before a qualifying need-based financial aid package is offered. Please be aware that this calculation varies from the federal calculation that is provided with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For example, IM expects minimum contributions from both student and parents as part of the financial aid awarding process.

The Financial Aid Estimator does not account for any merit-based scholarships that may be offered by the College. Merit-based scholarships must be incorporated into the overall need-based financial aid package, thus your financial aid package will vary from the estimate provided.

If your parent's primary source of income is from a business they own, please be aware that the estimate provided may not be accurate due to the complexities that exist in the financial profile of business owners. The estimator provides a general guideline, but the results may be less accurate for business owners than for regular wage earners. This also holds true if your parents are separated, divorced, or were never married.

The estimator is designed for traditional, dependent, prospective students of the University of Rochester. The financial aid analysis changes every year, so the results will not be accurate for upper-class students. Students who are independent based on federal guidelines (e.g. those who are 24 years old, married, an orphan or ward of the court, or a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, or who have dependents of their own) should not use the estimator.

The Financial Aid Estimator is presented in U.S. dollars and will not provide accurate results for students who are not U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.
