You Should Know
- There are no income cutoffs for financial assistance. Every application is reviewed individually so that factors such as assets, family size, and number in college are considered, in addition to the family income.
- If you receive need-based aid from UR, a scholarship from any outside source (your school, church, community, organization, local business etc.) will reduce the amount of need-based aid that you receive. Federal regulations require that outside aid be used to meet a student's financial need. In order to provide students with the greatest benefit, outside scholarships will first be used to reduce the student's self-help awards (loans or work). If necessary, University need-based grant funds will be reduced if previously awarded.
- You can only receive one merit award sponsored or partnered by the University. In situations where you qualify for multiple awards, you will be awarded whichever is most beneficial to your aid package.
- Complete all application materials on time and you should receive your financial aid package shortly after your admission offer.
- In a typical year, your chances of receiving some kind of UR merit award are about 1 in 3. If you have an admission interview and apply on time, you're giving yourself your best chance to compete for awards. If you wish to be considered for a full-tuition Renaissance award (given to 1% of the top entering scholars each year), you should submit everything you want us to read and schedule your interview well before the January 1 deadline crush.
