What is your favorite University of Rochester tradition? Why?

My favorite tradition is Winter Fest because it is a great way to appreciate the unique weather here. It reminds me that we can still have fun in the freezing weather including playing with snow dogs, drinking hot chocolate, and building igloos.

What is your most meaningful extracurricular activity? Why?

ArtAwake is my most meaningful extracurricular activity because the festival takes advantage of what the Rochester community has to offer: art, music, and vacant spaces. Although downtown Rochester isn’t as busy as it used to, the festival allow people to create discussions about buildings that are no longer in use and promote local artists and businesses. As the marketing director for ArtAwake, I have gained experience for my career interest, such as developing and executing marketing strategies that include creating event posters, contacting local media, publicizing the event through the Internet, and communicating with other directors and teammates. Through the position, I have become friends from different majors and schools and learned more about the Rochester community.

What is your favorite University of Rochester memory?

I have lived in rather warm areas (California and Taiwan) my whole life, so I was really excited to see lots of snow. My favorite memory is the night when I strolled along the frozen Genesee River with my friends at Rochester. It was the first frozen river I’ve ever seen in my life and I love my friends at Rochester.
